izgi has been with us for a little over two months, and she's only four months all in. so, it seemed like an appropriate time for her first night under canvas.
we didn't go far. a couple of buses took us out of town; a walk along an old railway path took us to a small woodland. we arrived a touch after dark. dog's dinner. tent up. dog snoozed whilst we heated up, and ate, some soup.
being a bit out-of-practice with the whole camping thing, coupled with winter not yet fully giving way to spring, and being enabled by the bus and short walk: we'd brought a lot of soft furnishings. including, a heavy thick padded picnic blanket thing, under the pretense of protecting the tent floor from sharp puppy claws, which just so happened to be (unsurprisingly) very comfortable.
izgi wormed her way up between us and we all shared some warmth. nature called me at silly o'clock and i encouraged everyone else out. after that we all snoozed until after 0700. which is later than izgi normally rises.
coffee for us, the usual for izgi. after some morning dilly-dallying, the tent came down and we walked back to the bus stop. meeting brodie the red setter, and maya and islay the black labradors along the way.
we'd been looking forward to going on adventures (big and small) with a dog. and it was lovely to actually make it happen. getting out there using only public transport is a slight (self-imposed) restriction, but it is possible, and it was fun. we got a night outside and a modest lie in. izgi got a noseful of new scents.
